What is 5G?Advantages and Disadvantages of 5G | FAQs

5G - Fifth Generation

Do you know what 5G is and how it works, when will 5G high-speed internet service come and when will it start in India? Will we have to replace our phone when 5G technology comes? What will be the internet speed of 5G ?. Let’s know all answers to the above questions. If you are interested to know the answers to all these questions, then read this article completely.

The fifth generation of mobile networks will be completely different from the earlier mobile network. Big HD movies will be downloaded in some minutes and much more is going to change.
Everyone is eager to know about it and they have many questions about 5G such as what will change in our life after the arrival of 5G and how much better it will be with 4G technology.

Before knowing the answers to all these questions, it is very important to know the answers to some basic questions related to 5G so that you can understand everything correctly.
The first question is what is 5G, so first of all we know about it.

What is 5G?

The full form of 5G is Fifth Generation.5G is the fifth generation of wireless network technology and is much better than 4G, 3G, and 2G technology.
The 5G performance targets high data rates, low latency, energy savings, cost reduction, high system capacity, and large-scale device connectivity and will be extremely fast.

The 5G technique can use a variety of spectrum bands, including the millimetre wave (mm-Wave) radio spectrum, which can carry large amounts of data over a short distance. Its internet speed will be more than 20 Gbps so that large data can be easily downloaded and uploaded. With this, HD Movie can be downloaded in 1 minute.

How does 5G Technology work?

In this 5G service, you will get high-speed internet connectivity and at the same time, you will be able to connect multiple devices simultaneously without decreasing internet speed, which will get rid of heavy traffic on the internet.

The backbone of the 5G standard consists of the low, mid, and high-band spectrum. There are two frequencies that can work on a 5G network, Sub-6 GHz and millimetre wave.
To transmit wireless signals 5G will use many small cell stations. Which can be applied to small spaces such as light poles or buildings.
It will be used from multiple small cells here, as this millimeter-wave spectrum is always within 30GHz to 300GHz and there is a need to generate high speed in 5G which can travel only from short distances.
As mm-Wave is very high-frequency waves and these waves do not travel long distances. In reality, they cannot even travel through windows or buildings. This means that a device operating on an mm Wave-based network would need to be extremely close to the 5G node to capture the signal.

This is fine in dense metropolitan areas, where you can place a 5G node every few hundred feet. But in rural areas where there are few buildings or cell towers, mm-Wave will not work.
This is why both sub-6 and mm-Wave are necessary to make 5G wider and higher speed. The internet speed will be 10  times better than the earlier 4th generation(4G), which will be very fast in itself.

What is the deployment status of 5G?

It will be an ultra-high-speed network with speeds of 20 Gbps. As soon as you touch your mobile, the web page will be opened in less than 1 millisecond.

It would be a challenge for telecom companies to start the service commercially and improve the infrastructure for the users to accept it and smartphone and device maker companies would also have to upgrade their technology to adopt 5G wireless.
The network operators are about to spend millions of billion dollars in 5G negotiations.

How different is 5G  from 4G?

What is 5G?Advantages and Disadvantages of 5G | FAQs

5G will be completely different from 4G technology. Currently, 40 Mbps is possible on 4G, but it estimates that 5G technology can achieve 10  times more speed than this.

If this happens, you can imagine downloading a high definition (Full HD) movie in less than a minute. If you consider speed then a 3-hour movie can be downloaded in less than 20 seconds. In 4G, this time is up to 10 minutes. However, apart from movie streaming, there will be many things in which 5G will prove to be beneficial.
5G is faster than 4G and it has more capacity and a better spectrum than 4G.

When will 5G debut?

US telecom company AT&T, South Korea, and Japan countries have already lead the world in deploying and building the 5G technology.

Chinese mobile companies have already started making 5G phones.
5G will be launched by the end of 2020 in most countries and in the coming few years the service will be started in many countries around the world.

When will 5G arrive in India?

The government has started preparing for the auction for 5G spectrum. The government has asked TRAI to suggest the starting price for the auction of 3400 to 3600 MHz bands.

The Indian telecom market is very competitive, telecom companies know that at this time in the market, customers are getting 4G data at very cheap prices, so why would they spend more on 5G?
So investing in new technology can be challenging for them and they can avoid investing heavily.

But Indian telecom company, Reliance Jio preparing for infrastructure development for this service. It is expected that Reliance Jio will launch 5G in India by late 2020 or early 2021. Till then, smartphone maker companies can also present their 5G support smartphone in the market.

Once the network is set up, users will need 5G compatible devices, after which this 5G wireless service can be availed. It is rumored that Reliance Jio may launch its own 5G Smartphones in the Indian market.
