Definition of the Internet :

The internet is a globally connected network system that uses TCP / IP to transmit data through a wide variety of media. Additional sorts of hardware include satellites, radios, telephone towers, routers, and servers are included.

It is connected by Directed, wireless, and optical fiber technologies. And there are tens of thousands of networks, tens of thousands of computers, and millions of users on the Internet, whose numbers are increasing daily.

How the internet works?

The process of transferring information from one device to another depends on packet switching. Each computer connected to the Internet is assigned a specific IP address that allows the device to be identified.
When one device attempts to send a message to another device, the data is sent to the Internet in the form of manageable packets. Each packet is assigned a port number which will connect it to its endpoint.

A packet containing a unique IP address and port number can be translated from alphabetic text to electronic signals, which can travel from the top application layer to the bottom physical layer of the OSI model's layers. 

The message will then be sent to the Internet where it is received by the Internet service provider’s router. The Router will check the destination address of each packet and determine that where to send that packet.

The packet reaches the client and travels in reverse from the bottom physical layer to the top application layer of the OSI model. 

During this process, the routing data port number and IP address are taken out of the packet, thus allowing the data to be transmitted back to the alphabetic text and complete the transmission process.

History of the internet :

The initial concept being developed in the World Wide Web is credited to Leonard Kleinrock. In 1961, he wrote about the previous ARPANET on the Internet, titled "Information Flow in Large Communication Nets."

In 1969, the pioneer of the Internet was jumpstarted in the early days of computing history with the US Department of Defense's Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET) funded researchers from ARPANET have created many of the protocols used for Internet Communications.

In 1968 Beranak & Newman Inc (BBN) brought about the last edition of the Interface message processor (IMP) and in the end, BBN wins the ARPANET contract. 

In 1974 the first Internet service provider (ISP) commercial version of ARPANET was launched, which is known as Telnet. 

In 1992 first Audio and Video published on the Internet. And today the Internet is very popular among people. 

In 1998 internet Protocol version 6 was introduced to allow future development of Internet address.

Currently, the most widely used is Internet Protocol version 6. 32 Billion Addresses Used in IPv4 Which has 4.3 billion unique addresses. IPv6 is 128-bit with 3529 billion addresses and 340 billion unique addresses. 
In 1999 blog publishing platform "Blogger" launched and in 2003 "WordPress" launched. 

In 2002 and 2008, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers were launched respectively.

In 2004 Facebook launched and the era of social networking began.

  • The Internet has lots of drawbacks like Surfing the Internet and playing games can quickly become addictive. Doing this will cost you a lot more time on the Internet than doing anything productive.
  • With access to billions of computers, computer hackers and malicious users can hack accounts and steal personal information that can be used for identity theft.
